We do not accept items of baby items, clothing or food.
Do the items really have to be new?
There are not too many things that we are adamant about at EFW but this really is important to us. We view your donations as gifts to women in need.
They are often women who are fleeing domestic violence situations and do not have many of their own items. Giving the gift of new items to women as they arrive in crisis and temporary accommodation is something we believe that will empower every woman to engage in self care.
We often have people say "I've only used it once, it seems like such a waste to throw it away". We suggest asking a friend or family member if they would like to try the item.
Do you accept menstrual cups?
No we don't.
The care instructions for menstrual cups are just not conducive to women in need. They are required to be washed every day and sterilised at the end of each cycle. Many of the women we service do not have access to adequate facilities to ensure that they can safely use the cups.
What about other reusable sanitary items?
It's still a no.
It comes back to the access to adequate facilities to wash and care for these items.
At EFW, we are aware of the environmental impact of single use items which is why we reuse, reduce and recycle as much as possible when sorting and distributing your donations. We are super happy that we won't be seeing plastic bags in our boxes this year.
Where can I take my donations?
Throughout the month of October we have over 30 drop off locations around Perth metro. Please check back closer to the date to see where you can take your donations.
Throughout the year, Park Property accept donations in their offices. They are open Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm and are located at 434 Albany Hwy, Victoria Park.
Can I organise a collection at my workplace?
Yes, you sure can!
We love it when whole workplaces and community groups get involved in donating items to EFW. This year we will be putting together a pack for you to set up in your workplace and community group. If you want to be the first to know about it, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter.
Where do the donated goods go?
Once we receive the goods, we sort through the donations and box them up for organisations across Perth and South West WA. We currently service over 15 organisations to supply them with donations all year round. For the safety and security of the women we service, a large number of these organisations cannot be named on a public website.
We also give directly to women who contact our services and attend Perth Homeless Connect every year.
